A great symphony orchestra deserves great pay

I have been a longtime musician and orchestra member (in San Jose, Calif.), and whenever possible hear the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in Heinz Hall as well as on tour.

Your city is great, as is your orchestra. When learning of the musicians’ strike (“PSO Musicians Go on Strike,” Oct. 1), I realized that perhaps the management of the PSO has not come to the same conclusion.

In a culturally rich city, with an improving economy, there is no excuse for reducing the pay of these world-class musicians.
